This panel discusses business solutions developed by companies in the Algarve region, which innovatively created products and services tailored to the needs of the tourism sector, aiming the consolidation of a smart destination. In these solutions, the concept of related variety is promote, through the interaction of solutions that associate tourism, the sectors of information technology, cultural and creative industries, health, energy or agro industry, relevant sectors in the Smart Specialization Strategy of the Algarve Region (RIS3 Algarve). These “made in Algarve” solutions contribute to the Smart Region project, led by CCDR Algarve, which provides an open data platform that aims to promote business opportunities to improve the economic performance of companies, as well as improve the experience of tourists and residents, in a region where tourism is the main activity. In addition, Algarve region registered a Digital Innovation Hub (DIH) called Smart Destination, which attests to the specialization and innovation profile of its companies, as well as the potential for internationalization of its products and services.
