Duarte B. Morais is Associate Professor of Equitable and Sustainable Tourism at North Carolina State University, USA, and he is the CEO of P1t Inc. (www.peoplefirsttourism.com). He is devoted to developing socio-entrepreneurial solutions for communities interested in becoming involved in tourism on their own terms. His scholarship examines how tourism microentrepreneurship may be used by host communities to break away from dependence from external actors and stimulate endogenous development.  He is the lead in(ve)stigator of People-First Tourism Lab, a glocal network of scholars using participatory action research to advance tourism micropentrepreneurship knowledge and success. dbmorais@ncsu.edu
