Professor Teresa de Noronha

University of Algarve

Teresa de Noronha is Full Professor at the Faculty of Economics and Coordinator of the Consulting Board of the Research Centre of Spatial and Organizational Dynamics (CIEO), University of Algarve. She also was President of CIEO, between 2007 and 2015, and Director of the Algarve Life Science Museum.
As a specialist in Economics of Innovation and Regional Development, de Noronha developed an international career: She has been Guest Professor at renowned universities such as the University Paris-Sorbonne, the University of Gent, the University of Bologna and the University of Toronto. She has published and edited many international books and authored more than two hundred blind refereed publications in recognized scientific journals or as chapters of international or national books. She has coordinated European, national and regional financed projects. As a lecturer, she is the Director of the Doctoral Program in Innovation and Land Use Management and coordinated many courses in the field of Economics, supervising more than twenty Master and Ph.D. theses.
She considers knowledge the major factor of development and redistribution of wealth the main driver of progress. She is a great defender of ethics and gender equity in society and consumer awareness for a sustainable world.
